Features

New feature: Finance Radio

We have a new Finance Radio feature on InvestEd - with news, company updates and information sessions as audio updates from many different Australian companies. This is a great tool for keeping track of your favourite companies, and is very useful as a learning centre as well, with educational material and market updates. Look for the Finance Radio link in the navigation bar on each page.

New feature: Finance Television

We have partnered with Finance News Network to present high quality video and audio content via our new fetature: Finance Television

Be sure to try the various content views from the drop down lists - there is a lot of educational information there too.

New feature: Special Offers

We have collected together an assortment of special offers of interest to investors. We will post updates of new special offers on our blog, but you can also see the full list: Special Offers

New feature: LinkedIn profile

We have added the ability to link to your LinkedIn profile in the control panel, which will show an icon on your forum posts and in your member profile page.

Look for the new option in the Control Panel -> Edit Profile -> Additional Information -> LinkedIn Profile

New feature: Premium Membership

By popular demand, we have now implemented a Premium Membership option on InvestEd.

For only $35 per year, you will enjoy a more streamlined and optimised forum experience with no banner or sidebar adverts and many upgraded or additional features not available to regular members.

Here are some of the current premium membership features:

  • Hide all banner and sidebar adverts
  • Unlimited attachment upload (normally 5MB)
  • Increased PM mailbox size to 100 stored messages (normally 10)
  • Use PM tracking
  • Send PMs to up to 5 of your friends at once (normally only 1 recipient per PM)
  • Set a custom user title to be displayed below your username on every forum post
  • Upload a larger custom avatar - up to 120×120 px
  • Set yourself to invisible mode so that others can’t see you online
  • … and more!

You may subscribe using our paid subscriptions page with a choice of PayPal or credit card payment via our Australian payment gateway.

New feature: choose sidebar location

There is now an option in the user control panel to allow registered members to control the location of the sidebar.

By default it is on the left. By changing the option in the control panel, you can display it on the right.

This is ideal for people running monitors at resolutions of 800×600 who normally have to scroll to the right to see the page content. Now, you can set the sidebar on the right so that the page content is on the left, and easier to view at lower resolutions.

Instructions in the Help and Feedback Forum: Choose Sidebar Location

New news feed: The Australian Real Estate Blog

Lawyers Real Estate Pty Ltd, publishers of The Australian Real Estate Blog have kindly granted us permission to republish their news feed on our forums.

An excerpt of their posts will display in our News Feeds area: The Australian Real Estate Blog.

You can opt-out of showing this news feed in your “new posts” and “today’s posts” searches - instructions. (The initial update retrieved the last 15 entries - but future updates won’t be as frequent, so you won’t be flooded with new posts like today).

New Feature: Opt-out of forum updates

As the forums get busier and we add new features and new content, the volume of posts may become too high for some people. To help manage your experience on the forums, we have implemented a new feature allowing you to “opt-out” of updates from forums that you choose.

This means that when you do a “New Posts” or “Today’s Posts” search, threads in the forums you opt-out of will no longer show up. This does not prevent you from browsing the forums and viewing the threads directly - it only affects searching.

More information on this new feature is in the Help and Feedback forum: Opt-out of forum updates

New Feature: More searching options

We accidently set the site to prevent unregistered user from using the “Today’s posts” feature - fixed that now

You will notice a new search box at the top of every page. This is a site-wide search which utilises Google’s search technology to (hopefully) return better quality search results. However, we first need the site to be fully indexed by Google, and the with the changes made to the site today, this may take a few weeks to complete.

So don’t be too disappointed by the search results there yet … give it a few weeks and it should improve dramatically.

In the meantime, there is still the forum search available, and the news and articles/glossary/toolkit all have their own dedicated search capabilities too.

Preview: InvestEd 2.0

We have been working on a complete rebuild of the site for a few months now - a lot of changes have been made to the backend software - almost all of which you won’t see, so it’s not terribly exciting.

But we have also completely redesigned the look of the site, including a shiny new logo that we had designed, which we think is really cool.

Now that we’re almost done with the rebuild, we thought it would post a screenshot giving a sneak-peek of what the site is going to look like, and officially unveiling the new logo.

The screenshot shows just one part of the new look - the forums … but the redesign covers every aspect of the site - so it will all look different, and better!

We are hoping to get the new site up and running within the next few weeks. Will keep you posted!
