Superannuation Guarantee on Commissions

Hey guys, I've read that the SG has now expanded to include Commission structures.

My workplace has now changed our commission structure to include super, however they have lowered what we were being paid and hidden the SG into our new structure.

Wherein previously I would earn X amount of commission, they're now stating that X amount is inclusive of the SG.

Basically they're saying that if I hit all my targets I will receive $750 commission inclusive of SG. So in my pocket at the end of the day I will be receiving $750 - 9%.

Does anyone know if they are they allowed to publish a commission structure inclusive of the SG, but advertise it as if we are to receive the full amount?

Hi CJ,

This is commonly known as a salary packaging. (Ie, salary plus super = package). You've got to be careful when you go for interviews or jobs as it needs to be clear whether the advertised salary is including super as it obviously makes a difference in the $$$ at the end of the day.

You could always ask them to increase your bonus to $817.50 including Superannuation...

Cheers,

Dan
