Crystal ball: 2007

Hi everyone

Time to get the crystal ball out.

Where are you putting your money in 2007 and what do you think are going to be the winners?

Perth residential property? Sydney/Melbourne residential rebounds?

ASX200 stocks? Mining stocks? International stocks?

I'm predicting International stocks to be the winner, with Sydney's residential property to remain flat, and Perth to be flat also.

On the ASX front, BHP will be $40 by this time next year and 6000 will be reached.

Hiya Glebe,

Wouldn't it be great to know what will lead in 2007.

My spare cash is going into Speccie Mining stocks as I think there is still plenty of upside here. Of course I'm hoping my picks will become takeover targets........INL,BSM being prime candidates. BHP has done nothing but dissapoint since May correction so I hope you are right with your prediction for that one.

Good Luck.

Regarding the mining companies, I wish I put some money in Bolnisi Gold (which is actually mainly a silver player) and Zinifex a year back. I chickened out...

Zinifex continues to amaze me and as Perky has mentioned in another thread I don't understand why Navra don't hold. I like you, was looking to buy into Zinifex.........just after May correction.........oh well, such is life. Still cheap in the eyes of many. I'm hoping they will take a shine to INL & BSM. Wish me luck.

I am also hoping the resource stocks will continue their ride upwards through 2007 although there will bound to be some serious "corrections".

Some of my holdings have gained around the 200% mark so according to some theories I should be taking profits, but it's a lot harder to sell then to buy and I'm basically the buy and hold type.

If a property comes along that is too good to refuse and I need to sell down some of the shares so be it.

I reckon BHP's time will come and I think it's share price will do well over the next 12 months. (I have an interest in BHP, obviously)

When you sell it, you can always buy it back on reversal and start again!!!!
There is nothing wrong with taking some profit (say 50%) before the stock price goes down.

Well guys, I've got plenty of interest in managed funds & property trusts. So I'm looking for more growth in those sectors. I've sold my direct share investments prefering to buy directly after a correction.

Most recently I've just bought another property in Newport/Melbourne with a 4.6% yeild and a fat depreciation schedule so I'm hoping to see moderate capital growth in inner melbourne property over the next few years.

My other property holdings are in Brisbane so I'd like to see continued growth up there also.

Thats where my smart money is.

My plan is to increase my exposure in emerging markets and asia.
For the last 18 months or so i have had a large exposure to local and global LPT's and have enjoyed roughly 30%pa returns in that time. I will be keeping this exposure so far into the start of 2007.

I am investing in the Challenger China Share Fund and would like to invest in the ING Global Emerging Markets Fund too should its LVR increase with my margin lending provider.

I believe Asia/Emerging Markets are where it's at for 07...
