2000 members!

Well, 2 years and 1 day after launching the site, we have just reached 2000 registered members.

We had our best month ever last month with 219 new members, plus 111 new members so far this month.

I know most people aren't really interested - but you all know I'm a sucker for stats

Nice work Sim.

Just curious, you don't put all this effort into Invested for free do you?

Do you get paid to be the Moderator?

Thanks,

GSJ

Not directly - this is a business venture - I am one of the shareholders and am managing director.

I am working on this and other business opportunities full time as my sole source of income now (unless my cash buffers run out before I can generate enough income and am forced to go find a job )

I don't get paid unless the company makes some money

... anyone ?

Hi Sim,

Good luck with the 'premium' and 'corporate' memberships! (I might give it a miss this time ).

I'm guessing the only other way a website like this makes money is the advertising?

Not sure how you managed to get Australian Financial Review to advertise here??

Do all those annoying 'featured advertisers' and 'sponsored links' on the left side here (that everyone ignores ) actually generate income???

Just curious, as I find it hard to believe that a smallish website like this could generate much income at all to make it worthwhile as a business venture.

Sim,

What is the definition of an active member?

Someone who has visited the site in the last ..........

I think 1000 active members is a far better result.

GSJ
He would make a small income from the links, but I guess he is trying to build a big enough user base which in the future he could sell, and the URL then would be worth something. I would assume more money is made when someone actually clicks on the links!

Say he had 200,000 active users, all who are investors, I would imagine that would be worth something!

Not a heap of income yet (certainly not enough for anyone to live on) - but it's all pretty much tied to traffic - the higher the traffic, the more the income, so growing the site and site visitor numbers is very important.

And no, people don't all ignore them - there are far more clicks on those text ads down the side than there are on any of the other adverts (about 70% come from non-members though).

You might be surprised how much some online advertising space sells for these days - especially targeted adverts for high value products.
